Flip Festival

Flip Animation Festival

Today marks the start of Flip International Animation Festival, taking place at the Light House Media Centre in Wolverhampton.

It’s on Thursday 27th – Saturday 29th October and has a top line-up, including the likes of Bill Plympton, Aardman, Cosgrove Hall, Frontier Games, Loose Moose, Brothers McLeod and more! Lots of screenings, talks and other things for you to get involved in at a brilliant venue. Take a look at the programme here.

It’s great to see such a list of talent and experience converging in an area most would not associate with film making (yet when you spend a little time there, you’ll soon see there’s alot going on!) I’m going to make the trip across for the weekend as work is stopping me from going for the whole event! I would if I could, it’s pretty cheap there (pints and accommodation).

If you can support our home-grown talent and want an excellent day out, I’d recommend attending FLIP. Here’s their site for more information. http://www.flipfestival.co.uk/

Rob Brydon = salesman

Man alive I wish shopping channels were more like this!

The future is here!

Slightly off topic but just how cool is this?

Art Clokey

Nice homage on Google today for the stop motion extrodinaire, ‘Art’ Clokey. I’m personally not familiar with alot of his work, mainly the commercial mainstream stuff, but this will make me dig a bit deeper! Nice work, Google. Below is a video by someone who has added a few interesting facts. See if you can spot the grammatical error ;)

Podcast!

Recently myself and a friend recorded a Skype chat and made a podcast from it. You can listen to it here: animationoclock.tumblr.com

On a different note, I just lost my whole site and had a small breakdown as the database went missing (!) but am VERY thankful to the people at Just Host for restoring it from a backup. They have been very good hosts up until now, but have just surpassed my expectations!

Original illustrations for sale

I’ve got some of my illustrations available on Etsy now. You can check them out here. These are all original watercolour pieces, so only one of each. 25 in this series.

Get one while they last!

It’s soup season!

Here’s a preview image from a project I’ve just finished. I’m working on some other nice illustration and animation jobs too…whilst enjoying the warm weather! It was my mum’s 50th this weekend so a good meal at a French restaurant in town topped off a midsummer-esque weekend. Now back to work!
